A modular seating system designed for Sydney’s high-capacity City & Southwest metro line, carrying up to 40,000 passengers per hour. A durable, timeless seating range that supports the Metro experience while maintaining visual cohesion with metropolitan station architecture.

The range evolved from Vert Design’s earlier Metro Northwest seating, refined for the CBD. Stainless steel frames, custom loop armrests, and spotted gum timber battens establish a civic identity, while sustainable materials and standardised parts improve accessibility, cleaning and maintenance.

The furniture range balances function, ergonomics and visual identity with long-term operational and environmental considerations.

Recognised with a Gold Award at the 2024 Good Design Australia Awards.

The project was completed in 2023 with the Vert Design Sydney team, in coordination with Sydney Metro and manufacturing partners.
